Name: Vance Brice
Nickname(s): Psyver
Title: Student
Group, if any: X-men
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Skills:
Freestyle Obstacle Exploring, Running, Racing, & Fighting) Ever since Vance watched his first video on it, he was always interested in the French art of Parkour, which involved military-level obstacle course training in urban and other similar places, using running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling, crawling, and other movement & traversal skills. This branched out to Freerunning, where there was more emphasis in interacting with various obstacles and the environment around the runner, using skills like gymnastics, tricking, and even breakdancing, but more importantly adapting a moveset to the preference of the runner. Soon Urban Exploration became another interest, which involved exploring buildings, caves, and other similar structures, reminding him of adventures in the video games(specifically RPGs and Action-Adventure) that Vance played, though his interests soon branched into backgrounds like forests and other open-world areas. Also among his favorites are when elements like grapple-swinging, gliding, and even flight are involved. Adapting to these, he practiced this on his own in a controlled, open environment, soon finding doing it not as easy as watching it. Due to his stubborn nature and strong willpower, he never gave up and continued practicing until it was as simple as walking to him.
Mutation/Powers:
Imaginary Constructs) Using his imagination to create and his willpower to maintain, Vance's psychic energy can be made into physical telekinetic or ergokinetic constructs of almost any shape or form, based on what he can make from his imagination, from weapons, to equipment, to tools & gear, to simple objects & shapes, and even certain mechanical objects. They can all be controlled telekinetically, allowing him to guide the object to its destination with his mind. His constructs can also include weaponry that produces elemental effects, such as heat, cold, force, electricity, and sound. As long as he has enough mental stamina and concentration to maintain his Psionic Focus, he can hold the constructs, and that depends on his physical strength. As he uses them, it looks like a blue glow from a point on the middle of his temple is sending cyclonic swirling streams of energy to the place where he expects his construct to take form, like his hand or arm, or another place on his body like his chest and legs.
Undiscovered Abilities: It is possible for him to make a construct combining his own imagination and willpower with someone else he, or his current construct, comes into physical contact with, making something new based on the combination of thoughts. With mutants, superpowered beings, and the like, their powers are also combined into the construct.
Weakness (Please be specific and clear as it correlates to the abilities): In order to make these, Vance must be aware of its existence and have a visual & mental grasp of what it is, being able to imagine it and make it a reality. He must also use his own energy to make said construct. The bigger and more elaborate & complex it is, the more energy he uses. If too many big complex constructs are made at once, he could become tired and dazed, requiring him to rest for a moment before making any more. If he overtaxes himself, he'll lose consciousness and need to sleep for 8 hours.
In addition, Vance can only overtake other psionic energy if he's strong enough. If the other psychic's will is stronger than his than they'll be able to resist Vance's construct damage. They can still be hurt if physically exposed, however, as can Vance.
Residence: District X
Appearance: Vance appears as a quite tall 6' 4”, easily towering over the average person. However, he is easier on the eyes once he is looked upon. He has dark skin of African-American descent mixed with that of Native American Cherokee. His brown eyes are easy to look at, and his black hair is kept short, soft, and combed back. His physical features, mainly his facial ones, portray youth in the body of someone big & tall, having a degree of expressions that make it easy to tell how he's feeling or reacting to things around him, with his neutral face being relaxed and calm.
Personality: Vance is one that desires peace, friendship, and love, wanting a peaceful & relaxed lifestyle, visualizing a chill, tropical, & Smooth-jazzy Solarpunk setting & background in his mind, solving problems with as little energy and effort as possible, saving that for critical moments, such as needing to fight. Due to his attraction to women, he likes flirting with them and trying to impress them, trying to be like the heroes and protagonists he reads about in books and comics, and those he watches on TV and in the movies. He wants to appear charming and romantic as aforementioned, though he sometimes comes off as creepy and desperate, despite him wanting to treat women right. Regardless, has had little-to-no experience in wooing girls, and fictional works really don’t count as experience, according to others that have spoken to Vance. As a result, he’s had several arguments with his those his age and adults, bringing up that they take imaginative energy and passion to create such scenarios, but sadly, the end usually results in disappointment for him. Still, one of his dreams is to find that special someone, and it’s a dream he won’t give up. However, he is very aware of women that take advantage of males that advance on them, as well as vice-versa, and he won’t hesitate to confront them about it...as in he’s seen them in his fictional sources. As peaceful as Vance is, he's also strong-willed, stubborn, and temperamental, challenging any authority that be believes to abuse their status & power. One of Vance's biggest fears is the world's leaders causing a war that will lead to an apocalyptic or similar event, leaving his dear planet Earth as a desert. This is something he wishes to avoid with the utmost intention. He also doesn't care for heroes fighting heroes out of hatred and other such negative emotions & reasons, such a pride, following orders, or anything involving law & rules. To him, fellow heroes are supposed to fight with each other, not against, and seeing them fight makes him upset. Most of all, he values his mind & soul being is, uninfluenced & under his control, and he will not tolerate any kind of manipulation thereof. Overall, Vance is a loyal & trustworthy person to have on the side of good, eager to help make things a little better in the world, even if that means he has to whup some ass.
Relationships/Friends: He has various friends in his hometown, in and out of his alter-ego, due to how much of an effort he makes to support and protect it. However, Vance makes a great effort to keep his civilian and alter-ego separate in the public eye.
History (Birthplace, Family, etc):
Vance Brice was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which was right on the Great Lake of Michigan. His father Vincent worked as a Security Guard while his Mother Tessa was a school bus driver. Together they able to make ends meet and live a normal family life, which they tried hard to do considering their pasts. Vincent and Tessa were both mutants, Vincent being able to manipulate objects with his mind, and Tessa being able to telepathically travel through dreams. They knew that Vance would begin to have powers of his own, so they were careful in how he used them. Unfortunately, the Friends of Humanity saw fit to vandalize an office building where the suspected mutants were working, and Vincent was working 3rd Shift. As he tried to stop them, he accidentally revealed to them that he was a mutant, getting himself hurt in the struggle. Fortunately, he sent them packing. Vance was a high school graduate at the time he was at home with his folks as the FoH drove up to his place and attacked with firearms and explosives, having located him through digging into Vincent’s files & information. Vincent died fighting them off while Tessa was crushed and impaled in debris saving Vance's life. She told him to run, to be free, and to never allow fear & hatred to stop you from being yourself. It was the first time Vance used his mutant power outside of the house as he tried to escape, but the FoH was covering the alleys as well. Vance then used his mutant power for the first time to fight back, using his imagination and memories from all the games, comics, and TV shows & movies he experienced to give them a violent, bloody thrashing. He then went for the rest of the FoH, leaving their bodies a bloody mess. After that, he took a moment to mourn for his folks before hearing sirens and fleeing.
Months later, he made a living working in District X, in a diner as a dishwasher half of the day while working in an arcade the other half. It was hard but it was a good living. Meanwhile, he had made himself an alter-ego in the form of Psyver, having a blue, black, and silver bodysuit complete with a ¾ mask, made of body-contouring spandex. Having worked out and trained on the streets of District X, he learned to get around, using his Imagination Constructs to help him make the city and streets a better place, avoiding fatalities as much as possible. Some days & nights were rougher than others, but to him, it was worth it.
It wouldn’t be long that his efforts would be noticed by the X-men, and they would convince him to join them, Vance having heard of the X-men and what they’ve done, quite curious of what they could want with him, and what they could offer him.
