He would often tell her tales of the beautiful dancer he fell in love with. He mentioned that he played for her mother often just to see her dance. She fell in love with the idea of being graceful like her mother. When she entered into grade school, she picked up ballet. Her father gave her lessons in the playing the piano around the same time then added in the harp. She enjoyed her time at school however her heart was in dance and playing music.
When she turned ten years old, her father ended up getting deathly ill. She sat by his side as he went through treatment after treatment. He moved them to London to participate in an experimental treatment. As he got better, she started to pick up the harp as well as went back to dancing. During her harp performance, her father collapsed on the floor. He was rushed to the hospital, only to die a few short hours later due to complications.

She pulled away from her aunt, not wanting to talk about how she was feeling. She all but stopped dancing and playing music as she buckled down on her studies.
