Name: Maera Iris Dannon
Nickname(s): None
Title: Acionna
Group, if any: X-Men
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Skills: chess player, competitive diver (school competitions), and strong swimmer along with scuba diving
Mutation/Powers: Maera possesses the ability to increase the density of water within her immediate vicinity for a wide variety of effects. This ability allows her to create "hard water" objects, reshaping various volumes of water into simple geometric shapes. Mera commonly uses this power to create water missiles, which she projects towards a selected target. She can also alter the flow of small amounts of water such as tiny brook or standing water in 20 foot radius over various obstacles. She can control streams of fast moving water while under water in a 40 foot radius. She is able to breath underwater for short amounts of time, no longer than 20 minutes.
Undiscovered Abilities: She can create a large water spout and a whirlpool. She is also able to telepathically talk to marine animals while underwater.
Weakness (Please be specific and clear as it correlates to the abilities): Heat or anything that zaps moisture from the air such as fire. She is weakest when she is in a desert area.
Residence: X-men Manor
Appearance:
Maera has a round face, her cheeks being more pronounced as she smiles with two dimples. Her eyebrows are pencil thin as they bring focus to her hazel eyes. Her nose has a rounded point as it draws the eye to her full pink lips. Her red hair is thick and straight. On the rare night on the town, she will give her ends a soft curl. Her build is rather lanky due to being 5’11”. She usually dresses in clean, fashion forward skirts and flowing shirts. She will wear some sort of flat unless it is a night out on the town. She has a pair of glasses which she wears every now and again, usually for reading. She has a tattoo on her back of her neck with a mermaid holding the symbol of water.
Personality:
Maera is a girl who knows what she wants and not afraid to let others know. She sees the world in black and white, right and wrong. She does not hesitate to tell it like it is or why someone is wrong as she uses facts and logic. She will talk most people around to her side of thinking. At the end of an argument, if the person still thinks that they are right, she will wait until bad things happen to prove her point. She is focused and driven in most aspects of her life. She does have a caring side under her harden surface. She wants what is best for those that she cares about.
She helps them find ways to achieve what they want. She is intelligent even though does not always show it. She likes to observe interactions of others around her. Her sense of humor has developed as she has lived in the manor.
Relationships/Friends:
Professor X- her mentor
History (Birthplace, Family, etc):
Maera was born four years after her sister, Hope. Due to unforeseen events, they were both given up for adoption. She was really too young to remember having an older sister. She stayed at an orphanage in Mamai until she was about 4 years old. She traveled around to various foster families. She never truly understood why she was passed around for she usually kept her nose clean.
During these turbulent times, she often found herself wondering the coastline. She loved the feel of water underneath her toes. She taught herself how to swim from watching other kids. The ocean was the only place that she felt at home.
Around Maera’s 10th birthday, she started to blossom into a young woman. Her foster father, at the time, took notice. He snuck into her room at night, often whispering that everything was okay and not to tell a soul or he would send her to a place she could never escape. She hardened herself for the nightly torture as she buried herself with in pictures of the only thing never to betray her. She lost what few friends she had as she became bitter and distant.
On a day that the whole family went to the beach, her foster father was arrested along with her foster mother. She never knew the reason, nor did she care. She was free as she was sent back to her orphanage.
Her stay was short as a family was looking for an older girl. She was adopted a few months later and started at a new school. The well known family had put her into therapy as a precaution. Maera learned how to cope with her year or so from hell as well as soften up a little. Her family gave her everything that she could ever desire. She learned that she was rather good at chess and, with proper lessons, a great swimmer which lead to scuba lessons. She discovered a love for diving as her mind cleared with the precision needed. She joined her school team. She ranked high on most competitions.
She noticed strange photos here and there of a strange girl. She felt an odd connection. When she asked her parents who this girl was, they replied that she was away at boarding school. They had hoped that with a new daughter, their old one would want to visit. She felt that something was off about that story. It caused a little more concern when she heard comments made about those pesky mutants and how it almost ruined their lives.
Around the time she turned 16, Maera discovered that she could manipulate small amounts of water from almost nothing. She would often put rings on her desk at school, just to have something to do. She realized while she was in the ocean, she could breath after the undercurrent swept her off her feet.
A week later, a man by the name of Professor X showed up at her parent’s house. He talked about how he had heard of Maera and her unique talents. Her adoptive parents heard him out and agreed to send her to this school. Once she settled into her room, Professor X explained the real reason she was here. He told her that it was a home for mutants like herself. She found that she rather enjoyed being able to have the freedom to use her powers along with having a normal life. Her parents never knew that she was actually at a school for mutants.
