Relina was born to two loving parents who are in fact mutants. They have specific powers, which allow them to perform as doctors with such precision that they are sought after to do the best cosmetic work in Los Angeles.
Relina was raised in such a way that she isn’t stuck even though her parents are quite wealthy and she has never wanted for nothing in her life. Her parents always being busy and leaving her with nannies and caretakers are really just absentee parents in her life. This didn’t stunt her growth or create any animosity toward them. It actually allowed her to persevere and find her own path.
Her mother actually gave birth to her, took two weeks maternity vacation, and was back at work on the dot. She was left with a nana and from there she went through several caretakers as she grew but the best one was the out of work teacher. That woman saw the potential in Relina and started to see exactly how intelligent she was and would be. Relina was developing normally but she was already demonstrating her intelligence.
It stared slowly as she was only one and her parents didn’t really try to teach her anything. She would allow Relina to choose off a chart what she wanted to do for the day or eat. She then said her first words to this woman and after that they kept coming, by the time she was one and half she was speaking in full sentences. The caretaker started to teach her the alphabet, which she was reciting it by the end of the second week and by the end of the third week she was counting numbers. Her parents were impressed and paid the woman to be a live in nana and she accepted.
The woman, Regina, didn’t stop there she continued to educate a 2 year old Relina who devoured all the material she was given. She was reading children’s books by the time she was three years old. The woman was amazed and kept up her teaching and taking her to play dates. This was developing Relina in ways that her parents wouldn’t have bothered with had they been caring for her.
The year went quickly and found the Relina’s caretaker running out of things to teach her and she moved on quickly to first grade stuff and by the time she was five she was reading at a third grade level and doing math at a fifth grade level. Regina was having a harder and harder time keeping Relina occupied and she knew school would be boring for her. Therefore, she had to speak with her parents about getting her into the special schools that could deal with her intelligence.
She was taken to outings that were fun and frivolous which one of her favorites was the Renaissance Festival where she watched how they fought with swords and spears and she wanted to learn how to do that. Her parents finally caved and allowed her to take lessons from the Renaissance performers and then from people who actually taught combat with them.
Relina was put into the schools that would challenge her appropriately and her caretaker was kept on as a tutor and to keep her out of trouble. The school years went quickly when you were intelligent enough to pass grades and at the young age of 15 she graduated high school. She wasn’t done yet as she was top of her class and in her speech named Regina as her inspiration. Her parents as her drive and most of all for her life and everything she was allowed to experience.
She had fallen in love with trap shooting because it honestly made you use a lot of math to track skeet and she became quite proficient with skeet and trap shooting. She did like old westerns and asked for a rifle which her parents got her to take the range on her weekends.
Her last love was a computer and what she could do with it. She did for a while run with a hacker collective under the name of Red Death but instead of staying with it she quit because they were getting more and more malicious and she didn’t want to go to jail.
She had a secret though and it manifested itself in a strange way. She was home with her parents and saw the newest computer she wanted it and asked her parents to get it for her. They said her current one worked just fine and she would have to make do. She went online and looked it up and as she was reading its technical readout her computer changed to the one she wanted. She screamed with surprise and her parents thought she had been hurt. She quickly stopped them telling them she was ok. They didn’t accept and entered her room. They saw the computer and looked at her. She explained to them how it changed before her eyes and they nodded. They explained how they were mutants and that had she not been one it wouldn’t have been disappointing but she was and it was ok. The biggest thing was that she just couldn’t tell anyone. She agreed and finished her application to MIT.
She applied to MIT and was accepted, she was young but ready to push herself and her drive to get her bachelors of science in her first three years and not only that but in Aerospace Engineering with a major in aeronautical engineering and a minor astronautical engineering. She was told it wasn’t possible but she was going to make it happen and she did just that. She applied herself, worked hard and in three years had not only completed her undergraduate work but her graduate work to the surprise of her parents and her professors. She wasn’t trying to impress them but Regina who had shown her a thirst for knowledge was something that never died.
After graduation she took a job in New York but her parents said that she would have to meet some friends, friends that they donated to their organization. She didn’t mind and they gifted her an apartment to stay in on the Upper West Side, a loft. She didn’t mind that at all because she had been told they would help her develop her abilities to their fullest potential, which would help her greatly. She could do a lot but to maximize her abilities to be a boon to her that was something she wanted a lot. First she had to get to New York and start her new job. Her parents said that someone from the organization would pick her up at the airport.
