The last few years had been a whirlwind for Logan-San. He had been living a quiet life as the leader of his village. His position as daimyo could be tended by his son. He was a smart young man and had the support of his three sisters. This was after tragedy had struck his lands. His people were being killed by a beast or creature and his hunting parties had not found it and ended its rein of terror. People stayed in at night and they were scared. As their leader it was his job to ease their fears and end this creatures activities. He went on the hunt with his samurai which had dominion over the villages which produced the most grain. It was another two days and someone hadn’t been seen after a night. He was close with one of the hunting parties and they went to investigate. The horrors that assaulted their senses were enough to cause the staunchest person to avert their eyes. He was done and they would end this creature’s murderous streak.
The outsider appeared. They were clothed heavily, which was smart. It was winter the mountain had brought the snows early and the chill of the morning still hadn’t lifted. Logan-San didn’t trust them at first but they were versed in Japanese and seemed intent on asking the questions. He wasn’t having and suggested they accompany them in their hunt. This was g FD or a two-fold reason. The trust issue and also they could be controlling the creature. He didn’t believe it coincidence that he had dead people and a stranger appears. This was to much. The stranger didn’t resist, that would have been enough to cause his men to accost them. They traveled to the next village which was two-hundred and fifty ken away. It took half a day and the sun was setting when they arrived. The inn, as this was a larger village, had rooms. He paid for them and chose one of his men and the stranger to share the room with him. The stranger didn’t object and had yet to object to anything. Another thing to raise his suspicions.
The evening came and the lanterns were lit. They had sent one person from each room to get food for their lord, one of his samurai, and the stranger. That is when it happened. The creature! No man! They leapt into the lord’s room and killed the samurai. The lord moved to fight but the stranger threw off their cloak, first revealing their identity as a woman and second they produced a light which struck the man and caused it scream in pain and jump through the wall with a smoking hole in its shoulder and it was gone in the night. Logan-San forgot about the woman and gave chase to the man, who was the color of a shadow with glowing eyes. His men came out and one was caught unaware by the man and killed instantly. The wound the woman had given it had healed as it fell his man.
The woman had not been idle and was there to greet the man but it’s agility astounded Logan-San as it moved to evade and did directly through the wall. It was gone in the night. Logan-San told two of his men to raise the alarm in the village and to get all men out on the hunt. The twin being throughly roused had all taken to patrol but after morning came the only thing found was another dead body, looking throughly dissected and the trail had gone cold again. He cursed his luck and he set the town back to normal routine. They had been close but now he had a woman to deal with and he didn’t know what to do. She had shown herself capable of warding off the man. He had to find it again. They hunt resumed and came to head in his hometown city. The place he ruled from and also the place he had lost his wife at as well. He had spent so much time avoiding his castle and children after she had passed. Yes they were grown but they wished for their father. He returned home to let them know of the danger. He was fortunate because had he been gone another day and more misfortune might have struck his house. He had given the woman housing in the guest area of the house where visiting rich merchants and other daimyo stayed when visiting. That is where wives stayed. She had a nice room and the staff knew to treat her with respect. That night though Logan-San had a dream, it was more a portent. His wife told him to check his daughters and he woke up and went to the area of castle right off where the stranger slept. She was odd the stranger. She spoke Japanese perfectly, acquiesced to his demands, and most of all she seemed more concerned with the thing that hunted them than with his demands. She didn’t argue with anything and merely took it in stride. She seemed to be playing her own game but it wasn’t with him or his people. She was a hunter in her own right and a patient one. He checked his first daughter’s room and she was sleeping peacefully, the same could be said of his second daughter, when he opened the third and oldest daughters sliding panel he stopped as he saw a living shadow move to conceal itself. He acted as if nothing was amiss but lingered a moment and that is when he saw the stranger strike. The thing cried out in anger and pain and struck at the stranger. That in turned woke his oldest daughter and as she sat up the shadow bit her neck and took a chunk away in a sickening ripping sound. Logan-San moved for his daughter but the stranger was there first. The creature bounded off into the night shrieking it’s anger and pain. Logan-San cried out to set all guards after it. It would be to late as it was gone. He came back and the stranger was kneeling over his daughter with a light coming from her hand. After several seconds turned into minutes his daughter sat up and the only evidence that she had been injured was the blood stain on her yogi. He fell to his knees and embraced his daughter in relief. The stranger spoke. It was to say that she was tired after that and she wished to sleep. Logan-San summoned maids to take the stranger to her room and dress her for sleep. They complied and and took her away. He then spent the night sleeping against the wall of his oldest daughter’s room.
The next day he woke to find that no other people had been harmed as they searched every house, shop, and alleyway in his town. It turned up no dead and no creature. He sighed as the stranger who he was no indebted to for saving his oldest daughter’s life. He gave her all the assistance within his power. It wasn’t until news of a boat of the dead came from across the sea that the stranger thanked him and said they were off on the hunt. He was surprised by her sudden shift. He implored her to take some of his men but she refused the gracious offer as she had put it. The second night he again offered and was again refused. The third night though he told her that unless he had the chance to pay her back his spirit would not be at peace in the afterlife. He said the only way his debt would ever be repaid is if he had a chance to help her slay the creature. She reluctantly agreed. His daughters were pleased with his decision. His son, who was married understood his debt and was secretly pleased as well. His wife had given birth to their first child and it was a son and after all the ceremony and celebration Logan-San and the woman who went by Angie or that was what she gave him as her name. After another week of preparing they set off on the trail of the creature. He left his son in charge of his lands and went on the hunt. It took them to mainland Asia first and through most of China. They would find towns and villages where it had struck taking two or three people and moving on. This causes went on for months. They would get close, have a short fight, or interrupt its kill. The trail took them through China and Russia always a day to a week behind the entity. They crossed into Prussia and then after another two months of travel into France. The situation in France was degrading and it took them only a week to pick up the entity’s trail and travel to England. The strangest part was every time they entered a new land Angie would get Logan new clothing in the style of the land. He didn’t question it but he kept his conical straw hat. As they took the trip across the English Channel he became aware that some of the men on the boat had ill intentions for them. He settled it once they had the lights of land in sight and reminded them his sword wasn’t just for show. They made land and were now in an even stranger and mechanized land. He was in awe but on guard. He had been during the whole trip sending missives back to his family via whatever couriers he could find and he would receive some back about the status of things in the back home. Angie set a pace to find them a semi-permanent lodging. She miraculously was able to acquire a house for them in London and they started to settle in before they began the hunt anew. They had lost the entity but after some searching had found out about rash of mutilations in London and were now ready to end the long hunt.

A blonde woman stood at a window as she looked out into the street. Her eyes were narrow after she read the latest newspaper. The monster was getting bolder the longer it stayed in this land. It was not aware of their presence just yet. She wanted to keep it that way for as long as possible. She hoped for this as she chased it for many years when entering into a new city.
Her chase started when the world was much younger. A dear friend of hers was spouting nonsense against their leader. She listened with a doe eye expression on her face. His words made sense at the time as she fell under his spell. She followed his lead while being his right hand woman. A civil war broke out between the two factions as tensions rose. She spoke of peaceful resolutions to her friend though her words fell on deaf ears. She would question his orders, especially about maiming and killing the other side. It didn't sit well with her.
Their philosophy on how to handle the situation came to a head as she had captured a spy for the other side. To make an example, her friend ordered Angie to kill the spy in front of everyone. She refused to do so, stating life is a precious gift and should be treated as such. It had never been her place to decide if who should live or die. A darkness surrounded her friend as he screamed about her traitorous actions. His followers shouted the same. Fearing for the life of herself and the spy, she fled the compound with the spy in tow.
The two of them ran for what seemed like weeks on end, fearing that her friend would kill them both if they were captured. Once they reached safety, Angie begged their leader to allow her to join his side and forgive her foolishness and transgressions. There was a long pause before the leader gave his sentence. There was relief as she would be allowed to live among the others, using her gifts to heal those who had been injured. When the time came, she would have to be the one to take down her friend. She didn’t argue with the last part as it was a gift that she was allowed to walk among the group again.
Years went by as she did what was asked of her. She found peace with her current life as she healed and gave advice on what the enemy might be planning. The fighting dwindled down to almost nothing as their leader gained ground. The end of the civil war looked to be near and they would win.
The final battle was a massacre on both sides. The current leader pushed back the opposing army when the unthinkable happened. Her old friend appeared as a dark aura erupted from him, blocking out the sun. He gave a long winded speech about how they had been betrayed by the light and their leader. He found a renewed faith in darkness and that it would defeat the enemy to bring equality to the world. His followers contorted in strange ways as their life force was pulled out of them. Her friend laughed as he grew larger with the shadows enveloping his body. His eyes flared red as he lashed out against their army. Her comrades fell as the shadow moved through them. Those further back shot beams of light which caused the shadow to call out in pain. The battle would swing from one side to the other as it dragged on until only a small number were left. Their breaths came out heavy as the shadow surged once more. The leader looked at Angie with sadness in his eyes. He told her that she must survive to take the demon down at a later time. Some of his power was transferred over to her. She ran from the fight battered and bruised as a large bang could be heard behind her. She glanced over as a swirl of dark and light could be seen for miles.
She was able to find a cave far from the battlefield where she stayed to allow her wounds to heal. She wandered the land, listening for rumors of attacks. She would hunt down this entity, only to find that it used her good nature against her. At times, she had help with the hunt however they never stayed for long. She found that most didn’t like the fact that she would accommodate their requests with no question back. She only stayed in one place until the threat was over and she knew where she was headed next.
It was surprising when she met her current companion. He was rather suspicious of her until she proved her worth. He found that her ability to injure the demon useful as his tracking skills allowed her to find the demon much quicker. What was even more surprising was after saving his daughter, he needed to repay her for doing her last task. She refused the offers for help when next she had to leave, only to find that he needed to come to allow his spirit to rest. She agreed as part of her had grown fond of his company and village. It would be helpful to have a better tracker than herself. They traveled around as they shared various bits of each other’s history.
Now, they arrived in London in hopes of finally riding the world of the darkness. She glanced back at him as she stared out the window. There was something about this city which caused her to shudder. There was no shortage of victims to gorge itself on. She sighed as she hoped that it would not gain any more power than it already has.
“Logan-san, are you certain you can track the entity in such a large city? I fear it has a good head start on us at the moment. I would hate for the city to be thrown into further chaos than it already is. It would disastrous for someone to catch it before us.”

Logan-san had removed the trappings of English society and was wearing his no Agassi and hakama as he had finished ensuring that all unused rooms had been sealed. Each held the ofuda to repel the evil they hunted s d the doors have been locked and barred against anyone getting through them. He wasn’t taking any chances as they were chasing a entity that had attempted to kill one of his family, had killed many of his people both young and old, and had attempted to harm Angie. She was more than capable in a fight as the first few weeks had shown and then time and again while they hunted the beast. He had just come from upstairs and was considering pouring himself some of the amber colored liquid. He perked up at Angie’s question.
“Hai Angie, soreha sabaku de kaihi o kokoromimashita, soshite soredemo koko de watashitachi wa karera ga toshi to yobu kono kikai-ka sa reta kyōfu no michi o.”(Yes Angie, it attempted evasion in the desert and yet here we are on its trail in this mechanized horror they call a city.)
He returned to his examination of the Amber liquid and decided against consumption. He was interested in getting back to the hunt but as Angie had cautioned they didn’t want to start anew tired. They would take a week to gather information and start tracking after that. She was a shrewd hunter and wise. The situation in his homeland had more than earned his trust. He consider Angie a friend and confidant. She had disclosed to him certain aspects of her life. He was grateful for everything she had done for him.
“Angie, kono kohakushoku no ekitai wa nanto yoba rete imasu ka?”(Angie, what is this amber liquid called?)
The clink of the crystal decanter’s top could be heard as he lifted it.
“Shigeki-shū ga shimasu.”(It smells pungent.)
He was till on the fence about the liquid. It wasn’t what he had experienced and he would have to attempt it another time.

Angie took in a ragged breath as she turned from the grey skies and wet ground. Her footsteps gave a soft thud as she closed the gap between them. She chuckled as he called the city a horror of sorts. It had been interesting to watch the advancements through the years.
"Kōdaina machidesu. Ryokō-chū wa chūi ga hitsuyōdesu. (It is a vast city. We must be careful as we travel it.)
She watched as he looked at the liquid in the bottle. They were watching the house while the owners were on a business trip in Spain. She was able to convince them to allow her and Logan-san to watch while they were away. The owners wanted to be far away from the killings. She was thankful that the help went along with. She could do the work with out worry about others.
She took a sniff as her nose burned from the scent. "O sake no isshu no yōdesu. Hitsuyōniōjite, jiyū ni tameshite mite kudasai. (It seems to be a type of alcohol. You are free to try some if you want.)"
She took a step back as the rain seemed to be lifting. It would be best to get a better lay of the land. While they rested, she always wanted to see about different rumors with various killings.
"Sā, chansu ga aru uchi ni tanken shinakereba narimasen. Watashitachi no kari wa futatabi supīdo o agerudeshou. (Come, we should explore while we have the chance. Our hunt shall pick up speed once again.)"
She went to the front door to grab her coat and umbrella.

Logan-San seemed to mull over the idea of trying what she was calling alcohol. The idea of western alcohol was intriguing but he needed a clear head for any threats besides the one they sought. He shook his head for the time being and was pretty much happy with how the house had been secured.
“Mori ga nai yōdesu. Kikai-tekina sōzō-mono no baransu o toru tame no shizen no enerugī ga nakereba, kōdai-sa wa karappo ni kanjimasu.”(It seems they have no forests. the vastness feels empty without the energy of nature to balance the mechanical creations.)
He was just happy they weren’t sleeping on the ground like they had when the entity had cut across the desert. They had pursued and fought some strange creatures beside their prey. It turned out it had been a large worm like creature that had been tormenting the bedouins. They had just been settling down for the night with their guide when it struck. Their guide had run and Angie and him were left to fight the worm via fire light. After several minutes they had it well in hand. The most interesting part about the fight was the way they worked in tandem. He had never been with any other warrior and fought that much in sync.
“Sukunakutomo ishi no michi wa wāmu o kyoka shite imasen. Sore wa watashi ga omou ni ī kotodesu.”(At least the stone roads do not allow for worms. That is a nice thing i would suppose.)
She was ready to go out and gather information. He would have to get changed for their excursion into the city. That one good thing about Angie insisting he dress as a local would was it gathered less eyes except for his hat. He didn’t mind so much and his sword he would never leave without.
“Kyō wa o sake wa arimasen. Watashitachi ni wa bijinesu ga ari,-me no mae no shigotode wa hontōni tanoshimu koto ga dekimasen. Tabun kore ga owatta nochida to”(No alcohol today. We have business to attend to and I can't really enjoy it with our task at hand. I think maybe after this is done. Please allow me to change for our outing.)
He ascended the stairs to the room he had chosen to sleep in which had a connecting door to Angie’s as they had taken precautions to ensure they weren’t separated by any barriers. He dressed quickly and put his hat on and came back down the stairs ready for the outing. His sword was on his side where one would wear it.
“Watashi wa gaishutsu no junbi ga dekite imasu. Kyō iku saisho no basho wa dokodesu ka?”(I'm ready for our outing. Where is the first place we are going today?)

Angie chuckled as he mentioned there was no balance with the natural world here. It was true as the further West they had gone, the more machines were around. There seemed to be an obsession with steam and how it makes things move. She often wished for the simpler times.
"Dōi shita, korera no hitobito wa nani ga jūyōdearu ka o miushinatta yōdeshita. Hahanaru shizen ga michi o mitsukeru koto o watashi wa manabimashita. (Agreed, these people seemed to have lost sight of what is important. I have learned that Mother Nature finds a way.)"
She laughed at the comment about the worm which attacked them. It was rather surprising that their guide left at the first sign. While the creature was quite large, it didn't take too long to bring down. The darkness surrounding it allowed some cover which dragged out the fight. It had been many years since she fought along side someone what made it seem like they had been trained together.
"Imanotokoro, ōkina wāmu ni sōgū suru hitsuyō ga nai koto ni kansha shite imasu. Sabaku ni modottara, yūkan'na gaido ga iru koto o negatte imasu. (I am thankful that we will not have to encounter large worms for now. If we go back to the desert hopefully we will have a braver guide.)"
She waited by the door as he went to change. It meant a lot as he agreed to her asking for him to blend in to the country they were in. She knew it was all in the name of the hunt. She still wondered how long until he gave up like the others. She was used to doing this alone, just he added a nice change of pace. She chuckled as she noticed the straw hat. It was the one thing in which he would not change.
She stepped closer to him as she kissed his temple. A gesture that strange as they were not close romantically. She had seen how woman were treated at times which would mean she would need Logan-san to intervene. She allowed him to understand the language around them, speak it if necessary. She took a step back as she adjusted her grip on her umbrella.
"Hitsuyōniōjite, kono tochi no gengo o rikai shite hanasu koto ga dekiru yō ni narimashita. Ichiba kara hajimeyou to omotte imashita. Uwasa o kiku no ni yoi bashodeshou. Betsu no teian ga arimasu ka? (You can now understand and speak the language of this land, should you choose. I was thinking that we would start at the markets. It would be a good place to hear rumors. Do you have a different suggestion?)"

Logan-San found that Angie was right about cities they had been in prior to this and she was well versed in how best to traverse them and gather information. He wondered about her life before this hunt and didn’t push her for details. He owed her to much to be rude. His debt was one he could never truly repay until he had helped her complete this hunt. Once she was able to rest he was sure she would find peace. The kiss on the temple was odd but not out of character for Angie. She had gently moved his hat to place it there and he found the gesture only endeared her more to him. She was truly unique. This was a quality his wife had and one he had cherished and now to have yet another on his life with this quality, besides his children, said the goddess smiled upon him.
“Angie watashi wa anata ga suru koto no ikutsu ka o hontōni ikei no nen o daka semasu. Anata wa anata ga yurusu yori mo ōku no jikan o mōra shita chishiki o motte iru yōdesu.”(Angie I truly do find some of the things you do leave me in awe. You seem to have a knowledge that encompassed more time than you let on.)
He stopped there as he had noticed that she had put his hat back perfectly in place and her idea of where to start hit the mark right on the head. He had his skill of finding information and Angie had hers. He smiled and nodded to her. The markets were a good place. People seemed more relaxed or to have loser tongues when in settings such as markets or house where spirits were served.
“Sore wa hajimeru no ni saitekina bashodesu. Machi no hitobito wa, sono chiiki ni sū jū-nen sunde iru hitobito dake ga shitte irudearou nyūsu to nani ga kimyōdatta ka o shirudeshou. Jibun de Edo ni iku koto wa mettani naku, musuko ga watashi yori mo ōku ittanode, motte inakattadeshou. Ichiba kara dono yōna jōhō o shūshū dekiru ka mite mimashou.”(That is an excellent place to start. The people of the city will have the news only people who have lived in that area for several decades would know and what was odd. I would not have one as I rarely went to Edo myself and my son went more than me. Let's see what information we can glean from the markets.)
He grabbed his sword and let her take the lead. This was a place she was the master of for gathering information. He would however be able to track the creature. That vile beast was not adept at hiding itself.

Angie felt her cheeks grow warm as she heard the compliment from Logan. She was not fully worthy of such a compliment. She had done what any other would in her place. He was her partner who needed to be on the top of their game. It would only work against them if he was not able to fully help them.
She gave him a quick once over as he placed the sword at his side. She figured there would be a few looks however they could mostly blend in. She was not one to discourage wearing things from his home land. It would help her pick him out in what could be a busy place. Her head nodded as he agreed with her.
The smell of smoke tickled the inside of her nose. She tucked her umbrella under her arm pit as she started down the street. She knew that Logan would match her strides in just a moment. It would be a bit before they were able to get market. When first arriving in cities, she enjoyed learning the streets by walking them. It allowed her to get a better feel for what it had to offer. There seemed to be an edge in the air.
She glanced at Logan as she asked, "Anata mo sō kanjimasu ka? Hitobito wa ejji ni iru yōdesu. Kemono wa sono yōna osore o yashinatte imasu. Watashitachi wa subayaku kōdō shinakereba narimasen. (Do you feel that too? The people seem to be on edge. The beast is feeding off such fear. We must move quickly.)"
Worry creased her forehead as this bode ill for them. She hated to think of how strong it had gotten in such a short time. Would they be strong enough to end this hunt or cause it to move on? She feared what would happen should they fail. For her, it was not an option to fail. She looked over at Logan as an idea struck her.
"Tōri ni sumu hito 々, Tokuni kodomo-tachi ni me o hikara sete kudasai. Karera mo kotae o motte iru kamo shiremasen. (Keep your eyes out for those living on the streets, especially children. They might hold answers as well.)"

Logan-San didn’t comment on the glow from her cheeks as that would have been untoward of him when dealing with a woman. Women were the true mistresses of society and men who didn’t realize this were beyond educating them of the fact. As they started into the streets he found the city had a hum. It wasn’t the hum of nature as the would have been a serene melody. This was a hum and it spoke to the lack of nature within the city and how balance was tilted toward modernization. It was nice to have mechanical items to ease labor but to much of one caused the fabric of the world to fray in ways that led to famines, floods, and other disasters to right the natural course. He was on the lookout for pick pockets and other indications of crime or violence in their area. He hadn’t detected any as of yet. He was pulled from his scanning by Angie asking him about the feeling.
“Angie, watashi wa gunshū no naka o kakenukeru kyōfu no teiryū o kanjimasu. Machi wa shindō shimasuga, kono pōshon wa kitai to kyōfu no akushū o hanachimasu. (Angie, I do feel the undercurrent of fear running through the crowd. The city vibrates but this potion reeks of expectation and dread.)”
He didn’t like the way this felt and after having spent all the time he had with Angie her body language that he could see her slight worry in her body. When she quickened her pace after saying as much he followed along deftly weaving through the throng of people as she moved swifter.
“Dōi shimashita. Karera wa otona ga minogasudearou mono o mirudeshou. Karera ni shitsumon suru no wa ri ni kanatte imasu.(Agreed. They would see things that adults would miss. It makes sense to question them.)”
He had a thought about the kids and how best to get information. He was a father after all.
“Watashitachiha kodomo-tachi ga deau tame ni ikutsu ka no okashi o te ni irerubekidesu. Sore wa jōhō to hikikae ni yoi teikyō ni narudeshou. Tonikaku watashi no kodomo-tachi to issho ni hataraite iru yōdeshita.(We should acquire some sweets for the children wr meet. It would be a good offering in exchange for the information. It seemed to work with my children anyways.)”

Angie looked over at Logan as he mentioned sweets for the children. She paused her steps as she turned toward him. He might have a point with something to eat. After all, food was the universal language. She would defer to his knowledge on the subject.
"Watashi wa sono yōna koto ni tsuite anata no chie ni shitagaimasu. Kekkyokunotokoro, anata ga chichioyadearu koto wa, watashitachi to hanasu toki no karera no osore o yawarageru no ni yakudachimasu. (I will follow your wisdom for such things. After all, you being a father will help ease their fears when talking to us.)"
She followed the streets to the market she had gotten directions to earlier. She squared her shoulders as she pushed the worry from her mind. Her focus needed to be on the here and now, otherwise she would go down a path in which she didn't want to go. She knew that they would do what they did best. Their skills would have to adapt to this environment as they had done with the others.
Her eyes glanced over the streets as they seemed to become more crowded. She sighed as she looped her arm within Logan's. There was something reassuring with him being at her side. She knew that her back was always covered, no matter the circumstances. She noticed a shop with the sweets that he had mentioned earlier. She guided them into the shop with a large man. She nodded her head at the shop keeper as she looked over the many choices.
"Anata wa kodomo-tachi ga dochira o nozomimasu ka? Okashi erabi ni kanshite wa sukoshi mayotte iru koto o mitomemasu. (Which would you children like? I will admit that I am a bit lost when it comes to choosing sweets.)"

Logan-San chuckled at her reluctance to choose sweets for children. He had once been that trepidatious parent who didn’t know if his kids would like something he had brought home for them. He smiled at her and started to peruse the wares the sweets shop had to offer.
He seemed lost in thought about the selection and it was the furthest from the truth. He was aware of the shop and those moving about in it. The shop was buzzing. He decided rock candy was the best.
“Sir, the candy that looks like small stones.”
The man turned and nodded to Logan. He had been observing the way people interacted throughout the lands they had traveled through and how each one differed but were similar to his own.
“Do you have cherry or lime flavored?”
The gentleman nodded and pointed to the red and green and they were on the longer sticks. He noted he could read the language as well and he could buy a pound for several pence.
“Pound and a half of each and also some of those gummy looking ones as well.”
The gentleman rang it up and Logan who did have some personal wealth had exchanged money again and paid the man. He sent a missive to his son as well as to what to look for on their lands for metals. His son should receive it and send one back.
The man added it to the order and Logan paid for it and looked at Angie.
“Angie is there something you wanted?”

Angie took a step back as she followed Logan around the shop. She glanced at each of the candies as he seemed to carefully consider each of them. With his knowledge of sweets and children, she knew that he would pick out the perfect ones. In her travels, she often seen shops like this in her recent travels. In her past, she would have baked goods filled with jellies.
She was happy that the owner was helpful with purchasing what they needed. She was pleased that her gift had come in handy as Logan gave his order. A smile crossed her face as the order was neatly packaged. The question asked took her back a moment as she was uncertain. Her eyes looked over the different ones before turning back to the owner.
"What about the malted chocolate? It sounds rather interesting. A quarter of a pound please?"
The owner placed them in a small bag with a smile. She gently took it from the owner as she payed with what little funds she had. She took the bag with the chocolates as she popped one in her mouth. The sweet and bitterness mingled on her tongue as she swallowed. She looped her arm around his as she guided them out of the shop. Her eyes scanned the various different shops which lined the street.
She paused their steps as her eyes spotted a small group of children at the end of an alley way. She looked at Logan with a nod, "Miemasuka? Karera ga nani o shitte iru ka o miru tame ni, karera ni chottoshita kyandī o agemashou ka. (Do you see them? Shall we give them a bit of candy to see what they know, Logan-san?)"

Logan- San nodded at Angie as she pointed out the children. They seemed to be partial clean and having fun. The ball they were kicking around came their way and he stopped it pooped it into the air with the toe of his shoe and then volleyed it back to them. They laughed and kicked it to him again. He kicked it back adding a little backspin causing it to roll away only for him to give it back.
“Come children. You have made me laugh and remember my children when they were your aged. I will allow to pick something out if this bag.”
The bag instantly gathered eyes as Logan opened it to show their contents to them. A little girl squealed.
“He has sweets!”
That caused all the kids to cluster around him and he motioned Angie to gone over and take the bag to get her questions asked.
“I would like if my friend may ask you something and then you can take some candy.”

Angie watched as Logan kicked the ball around with the children. The corners of her lip tugged upwards as she watched the little ones gather around. She stood a little ways back as he invited them over to pick out a piece of candy. She chuckled at the little girl as she noticed the sweets.
She knelt next to Logan as she came to the level of the kids. She smiled brightly as her hands swept wide in front of her. She glanced at each child, looking at them each in their eyes as she gave off a relaxed vibe.
"You all look like a bright bunch. I am wondering if you have heard the grown ups talk about a string of murders happening around town. Have you seen anything of late such as a monster hiding in the shadows? Is there anything unusual going on around town? I am looking to help stop a killer of sorts here."
She watched as the faces of the children turned into more thoughtful expressions. There was a shadow of fear which etched into them. It was hard not to miss the hesitation they were in speaking their minds. She dropped her voice as her eyes passed over them once again. "Do not fear little ones. I won't tell anyone that you told."
The little girl who squealed, stepped closer as she leaned into Angie's ear. The woman stood very still as the breath tickled her ear. Her eyes closed so she could concentrate on the words which were barely audible. "There is a man who lurks on the streets. I seen him with the pointed teeth with crooked grin. He talks of death to flesh her out as a darkness hides him. He copies another killer on the streets. I ran away when I thought he had seen me. I didn't like him in the least."
A little boy spoke up next as he was visually shaking. Angie felt her heart drop as he was nervous. She pulled him close as she hugged him. Something told her that his story has a little more than the girls. She patted his back as she looked at him. "Take your time, sweetie. There is no rush here."
He took in a few deep breaths of air before he spoke. Worried laced his face with the soft voice stuttered. "I seen him too. He gots both of me parents. I hid under me bed. Three ladies came in, the red headed found me and gave me some food. The ladies talked how it was similar to how others gots killed. I don't knows much more then that."
Angie felt her heart sink even more as she heard the tale. There were more details however she didn't want to press. She made a note that there were detectives on the case as well. Her enemy had gathered the attention of several different departments. She hugged the boy again as she asked a question. "I understand what you must be going through. If you want, you can spend the night with us. We have a couple of rooms and a nice family for you stay with when they get back. Nothing will harm you while you are with us."
The boy nodded as tears formed in his eyes. He looked over at his friends with sad eyes. Angie ruffled his hair as she looked at the other ones who shrugged as they didn't seem to know anything else. She nodded her head as she saw them eying the candy. It was a good start with getting some information. It gave her a tiny lead which was needed. A frown deepened on her face at the enemy had killed a few as he has been seen in the shadows. She shuddered as they would need to move rather quickly.
As the kids ate the candy she stood up as her arms crossed over her chest while she thought. There should be some articles in the newspaper which highlighted these killings. It would allow her to do some reading as well. She glanced at Logan before she stood up. "Chīsana ko o watashitachi to issho ni shōtai shite kurete daijōbudato ī nodesuga. Furui shinbun kiji no basho o sagasu hitsuyō ga aru to omoimasu. Tantei ni renraku dekiru ka mitaidesu. (I hope you are okay with me inviting the little one to stay with us. I think we need to find a place for old newspaper articles. I want to see if we can contact the detectives.)"
