Larissa bent down over the latest body left by the killer. Her team had been called in to help Scotland Yard with their investigation. Their reputation for the unusual and hard cases had brought them in. There was something very different about these. She could not fully put her finger on it just yet. She looked over at the other two ladies with a frown on her face.
There was an odd feeling in the air of the house as Jean had done a sweep. She was partially the reason why their agency was so successful. She picked up on traces of energy left behind people. She never told anyone about her gift to feel emotions of others. She had worked hard on shielding herself with unwanted energies flowing in. During cases, she didn't have that luxary. It was nerve wracking that these killings had gotten worse.
Her eyes closed as her hand trailed along the banister. She shuddered as a darkness welled under her fingertips. A frown crossed her lips as she looked over at Larissa. Her arms crossed over her chest, " The energy is the same here. I daresay that man was protecting his family as he was chased down the stairs."
Larissa nodded her head as she poked at the body with the umbrella. The slashes were across the chest ran to the back. The stomach was cut open as the guts spilled across the floor. She looked over at Cate while she sat back on her heels. "What does do you think of this latest killing?"

Cate kneeled down next to the body, lending her gloved hand along the skin of the corpse “It’s just like Gloria LeStrange.” She shook her head “Slit straight down the torso.” She sighed “Poor lass never had a chance.” She frowned, looking up to the woman’s forehead, seeing her said matted with blood. “She’s fresh. It must’ve just happened a few hours ago. “I’ll call Dr. Sateno.” She spoke, pushing herself off the gravel. Her stiletto heels stepped back as she pursed her red lips with disappointment “There’s gotta be a connection. Same method; same sex and I’m assuming this woman was in her early twenties. Were there any notes or anything left behind by the killer?” She asked, straightening out her leather skirt.
Placing her head back onto her head, a blond curl fell below her chin “Jeanie, what did you find? You’re ghostly white again this happened last time, dear?” She asked softly.
Cate knew her friend had something to hide. She’s known her since they were children and she’d bonded over mysteries of Sherlock Holmes. The blond knew there was something up and she’d find it after a few glasses of wine.
Cate herself would be buried in her work until dawn and catch a morning tea with the doctor...

Larissa stood up as Cate did. There was a pattern which formed as she frown. It had been mainly woman for a certain age and hair color. There was the odd time in which a male was dressed as a woman. It was the only connection that they had currently.
"Call the good doctor. It's the same as all the others. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, almost like they are sending a message to someone. The question is who?"
Jean sighed as she walked on the street. There were splatters of blood across the cobblestone as the energy was thick with fear and hatred. She gave a small smile to Cate as she cleared her throat. While Cate was her best friend, there was still the secret that she would hide from her.
"Just these killings can turn my stomach at times. It begs the question of who would be this violent. Some people are just sick, ya know."

“Just as bad at Jack the Ripper, but the signatures are different.” Cate responded somberly. Grabbing her camera, she snapped a few pictures before tucking it away in her bag. As she leaned down to examine the body one last time, she felt a drop of liquid fall onto the tip of her nose. Looking up, she gasped “Ladies...” she breathed slowly, placing her finger to her nose, smelling the crimson liquid before giving it a second thought “The fight began up there.” She pointed to the second floor of the building.
“That would explain the blood on her hands; the tips of the gates are just tainted with it. Those damned gates...” she sighed “you got up a Romeo and come down as Juliet. Sick bastard.” She spoke angrily “I’ll go up and get more pictures. You two coming with it will you hang out here?”

"Jack the Ripper was normal compared to this person." Larissa huffed as she stood up. It was a disgusting mess with these bodies. There was no rhyme or reason to these killings. It just seemed as if the killer was getting bolder going after the more elite of London. The pressure was on them to find out who was leaving the trail of bodies.
Larissa followed the finger of Cate as she pointed upwards. "It would make sense with how much blood was lost. I'm going to take some samples to see if I can find the victim was able to damage the killer." She stopped herself from calling it deranged. It would not be far from the truth.
Jean shuddered as she looked into the eyes of the victim. Part of her wished that the killer would attack when they were close by. She would at least be able to try and catch them. They might be able to save someone. She took in a deep breath as she walked down the stairs, "Cate switch places with me. This way you can get better pictures."
She took her leather coat to drape it over the face of the victim. She sighed as she watched Larissa take the samples that were needed. With no witnesses, she felt a little more useless as that was her strong suite. She closed her eyes as she took in a deep breath. Her mind had to go from emotionally driven to more analytic as she searched for clues. She took out her magnifier glass as she walked through the scene, trying to put the pieces together.

Cate gave a nod, stepping carefully over the body as she switched with Jean. Grabbing her camera once more, she took pictures of every body part, just to ensure every inch of the victim was handled. Then, one by one, she placed wooden numbered cards by each of the lacerations, stopping at the head. “Long brunette hair and green eyes. All of them have had dark hair and light eyes. That’s something.” She pondered out loud.
Looking to Larissa, she smiled sideways; the woman made a point and was angry. The blonde fully understood; the situation was maddening and the constable was on their asses to solve the case. It always felt like they were just a minute later. The fresh smell of blood triggered Cate. She had never been triggered before, but this had began to sting. It was so goddamn Ed frustrating.
Grabbing a plastic bag, she began to collect the woman’s personal effects. Lipstick, mirror, notes, everything. “The family is going to be devastated. She was too young; maybe 20? Christ.” She sighed heavily “I’ll give Leslie a call.”

Larissa shrugged her shoulders as her looked at the blonde. To her, it did not matter if the good doctor was called. All the evidence was here. She frowned as she continued to take the samples.
"Call him if you wish, though he will probably agree with what we have said. Not much is new. You did forget the three blondes as well as the two males dressed up as woman, Cate. There are a few different murders other than Jack. I know, you want to catch that asshole too. We need to get through the one with the paycheck first."
Jean stayed out of whatever argument was going to happen. Larissa ran a tight ship when it came to the facts. She sighed as she bagged pieces of cloth and hairs. Anything could lead them one step closer to finding this killer. From what she sense, their time with Scotland Yard was running out if they don't have some sort of answer soon.

Cate sighed heavily; she and Larissa usually butted heads, but it was healthy and a good way of looking at the other perspective. Still, this time, she believed the woman was incorrect. “It’s always good to have confirmation. I wouldn’t want our research to be thwarted for a tiny mistake with the medical examiner. That would kill us. We’re their last hope. If we fail here, we fail them.”
She was usually the voice for the victims. She would stop at nothing to get answers. Late nights and frequent visits to the crime scene, and endless amounts of shitty coffee...
Licking her ruby red lips, she grabbed some tokens for the phone booth and strutted over. Jamming the golden disks into the machine, she stuck her finger into the circular dial and entered Leslie’s number...
“Hey...” she spoke somberly “We’ve got another one. Corner of east and main...”

Leslie was in the middle of an experiment and was not expecting a call and waved at his assistant to get the phone. He should have never had it installed. Sure modern convenience but so damned annoying!
“Get that blasted noise maker before it resonates and causes this to…..”
The explosion, which happened as Leslie predicted, threw him back and rattled the windows. He coughed and walked away.
“It best be important or I’m going to be rather displeased that my experiment was disrupted for a wrong number….”
He walked over to his assistant and took the receiver.
“This is Dr. Sateno, you have interrupted an experiment and I’m sure there is a very good reason.”
He listen and waited for Cate to finish.
“Of course. I’ll gather my equipment.”
He looked at his assistant who had already grabbed his bag and camera.
“The carriage is being brought around doctor.”

Cate grimaced, hating to disrupt the doctor, but it had been urgent and she knew that he’d take anything she brought to him. The two developed a mild flirtation over the last few cases they worked on. They’d work into the night, casually grab beers and dissect the wounds together. If she hadn’t been a PI, she would have been a doctor.
Looking to Larissa and Jean, she shrugged her shoulders. “Why don’t we take a break, eh?” She asked softly, knowing Jean had grown a bit tense over the course of the hour “I doubt we’ll find anything else in the next 5 minutes...”
Looking to Dr. Sateno’s nurse, she nodded “Thank you for giving him the message. I’ll bring you more muffins this week.” She smiled gently as her dimples flushed with red.

Larissa rolled her eyes as she kept looking over the crime scene. She knew Cate had a thing for the handsome doctor. She often felt that the relationship got in the way of their work. Her eyes scanned around, looking for anything that was out of the ordinary.
She shrugged her shoulders at the idea of taking a break. She wanted to get this part of the investigation over. There were various tests to run in hopes of getting a lead to go off of. As for now, there had been nothing. Maybe this time there would be results.
Jean came over as she put the camera down as she walked over to Cate. She looked between her two friends with a sigh. As usual, they bumped heads. She could feel the tension between the two as she gripped the camera. "I think having the good doctor look is smart. Though taking a break doesn't get us back to lab sooner. We really do need to find this killer."

Care stood back against the brick wall, a few feet away from the body. In truth, they were right; a break wasn’t going to happen and for good reason. Any time taken away from the investigation was an insult to the victim and their loved ones. She was worried about Jean, however. The woman wore her emotions on her sleeve and had done so since childhood. She was a grown woman, however, and Catelyn needed to stop trying to mother her.
Looking up and taking a deep breath while feeling the crisp fall air enter her lungs, she have a nod. “You’re right. I’ve let my feelings interrupt what’s most important. I’ll call the doctor, but we will keep researching.”
Giving an inward frown, she sighed heavily. Whomever was on this murder spree was giving them a run for their money. The three of them had grown and received publicity in the papers for their work. “It’s just like any other case. This woman needs us. They all do. There’s a story that must be told...” she whispered softly, leaning down. Looking upon the poor soul laying lifeless before her, she put her gloved hand into hers, giving it a gentle squeeze “We’ve got you, my love.”

Leslie arrived nearly 20-30 minutes later due to traffic and his horses not liking the large construction mech. He marveled at the man made monstrosity and how it was like a human body. It had parts that allowed it to move like humans. He was lost in thought when they arrived at the residence. He gathered his tools and knocked on the door. He was admitted by one of the people at the scene. He followed them to where Cate and the body were and thanked them. He set his equipment down and put his case down.
“This is where the body was found? Exactly found and not moved?”
Cate knew he was particular and knew him after a fashion And a few beers. She had stayed out to late and she had taken his guest room. He liked Cate because she seemed to understand him.
“Catelyn it is a pleasure as you always seem to bring me to such interesting places.”
He smiled as he unpacked his camera.

A wave of relief was evident of the blond's face as the doctor appeared. They had had many a night of drunken shenanigans, but also research as well. He was her male confidant and excellent partner in all things strange. Taking in a breath of the musty night air, she nodded "Just outside the back door. She had been pushed out the balcony window, the poor dear. She cannot be much older than myself, honestly. Such a bloody waste." she grimaced.
It's going to be another long night of documenting, and connecting the dots. Leaning down and removing a rolled map from her bag, she lay it flat on a wooden table. The map had been covered with colored lines "What is strange is, this is the furthest south from the most recent murders. The killer usually keeps north toward Luton. We're literally on the cusp. It feels like they're playing a game. The moment we get close, they flip the switch..."

Jean sat on the stairs as she watched people come and go. She sighed as she closed her eyes. It had been a long day which meant an even longer night. She hugged the camera to her stomach as she focused her breathing. She could feel the sadness and pain from everyone who walked by. She just needed to take a breather.
Larissa patted Jean on the arm as she knew the longer investigations got to her. She could feel that they were all wearing down from this one. So many needless deaths with little to go on. She just hoped they would catch the killer soon. She was ready to put a bullet in them. It would be a quick death though she didn't want anyone else getting hurt.
She walked over to where Cate had pulled out a map. A finger traced a line through the different murder sites as her eyes narrowed. She felt as if they were missing a connection. She would need to go back through their notes on dates and addresses. It might allow them to predict the next one in this area.
"Too many twists. I want to get into the mind of this killer before they strike again. Dates, I think we need dates as well. There has to be a pattern of some kind that we are missing. I just wish we could see it. If this is a game, I am really tired of playing it..."
