Leslie and Cate’s trip to future had been eye opening. He had learned things that he would have found out in time. He didn’t know what to do with and decided he would go about his life as he had and with a dear friend, he amended that, a love which he couldn’t pursue with Cate it might be a little awkward but he could cope. After his return he kept his normal pace and worked, did his rotation at the new Hellfire Club and then went home. He had times where he and Cate hung out and did the normal things they had done. He kept it to the friendship as he had no evidence other than that of what he had been told by his future self and future Cate. He didn’t even try to give himself reasons for avoiding Tiffany as she did all of that for himself.
He had just finished a twelve hour shift in the ER and was passing through his lobby when the desk attendant called out to him about a package that had been delivered. He went to the person and they gave him an envelope that read To: Leslie. He recognized the hand writing as Daphne’s and smiled. He didn’t see why everyone feared the woman. She was quite sweet and while she owned more cats than he thought comfortable was just another person. He thanked the desk attendant and took the elevator ride to his apartment. She rode he opened the envelope and inside was a USB drive. That was odd but not uncommon in the twenty-first century. He expected it to be video of her cats, which she had emailed him before as he had told her he liked cats. He would watch it because he needed the mental break and a cat video seemed to the thing for him.
He grabbed his laptop and started to warm up last nights dinner leftovers as he booted his computer. He heard the microwave beep. He got his plate and utensils and sat down to watch a cat video. He put the drive in and opened it to the video. Once it started playing he stopped with a bite halfway to his mouth. It was Tiffany with another man. It was the Hellfire Club, old one, he recognized the private rooms decor. He was now paying close attention and when the man turned around to start take off his shirt. It was Sean! What the hell! He felt his anger rise and the stopped himself. He let himself calm and watched the video to up to the point of them having sex. He stopped it and felt sick to his stomach. He had been justified with his suspicions and confirmed by his future self. He now had the proof. He emailed a copy to Cate and called Tiffany. After he finished his call to Tiffany in which he ended his relationship and the pending wedding. He had also sent a copy to Tiffany’s parents and why he had ended the engagement and to cease all contact with him.
His phone started ringing and it was Tiffany. He silenced it and called down to the front desk to give instructions on who was no longer welcome to come up and visit and that was Tiffany and Sean. He received an email a few minutes later with the revocation of their access. They would be stopped and if they caused a scene the authorities would be summoned. He was mad but doing this as his logical and organized mind. He was done and he stopped himself from quitting his job. He didn’t need to quit but he was going to break Sean’s nose for this and then decided an assault charge wasn’t worth it.
He was mad and now he was going out. He finished dinner and after the thirtieth call, which he silenced, he blocked her number. Although prior to blocking her number he texted her and said that she needed to stop contacting him as they were no longer engaged and he wished no further contact with her. He wanted to be mean but he didn’t want to be petty, he would be justified but he wasn’t going to be petty.
He finished eating and put his dish in the dishwasher. He grabbed his coat and left. Tiffany was most likely on her way. That was a hour drive and he wasn’t going to be around for her meltdown. He was going to go have a drink. He was off for two days and he decided he may not stop for a day. He had some liquor in his home and would get more while he was out. He called a cab to pick him up and left twenty minutes before Tiffany showed up.
He was off into the city and was going to be himself. He did call his parents and tell them while he was in the cab. They consoled him and he told them he was going to take tonight to get his head right. His father said not to do anything rash and his mother said she would call tomorrow to check on him and ensure he was ok.
He went off into the city to find something to distract him from the bomb that had been dropped on his life. He was thankful that Daphne had sent the video and saved him from making a mistake about the person he was choosing to spend his life with.
