She’s a little on a crazy side recently, as she was forced into an asylum by her parents. She had friends, however, they abandoned her as soon as they saw her abilities. She also hates men because of her experiences in the asylum
Relationships/Friends: None
History (Birthplace, Family, etc):
Fathom grew up in an upper scale family in Miami, FL. She had a live that she loved and spent most of it outside in the ocean. Surfing was her all-time favorite thing to do. Any time she would be in the water, she was there. When she was about 15, her abilities surfaced, and she was amazed. Excited, she went to the pier one night to show her friends, who rejected her instantly. They called her a freak and reported her to the authorities. As soon as she got home, her parents had a plan. They couldn’t associate with their daughter. Her father was an investment banker, and her mother was a lawyer. Because of their daughters new-found ‘abilities’, they decided to put her where they didn’t have to worry and go about their lives. The day after her 16th birthday, they placed Fathom into an asylum. She was drug kicking and screaming until she ran out of energy.
Once in the asylum, she was drugged and tested hourly. She knew she wasn’t crazy. She’d seen others on the news with abilities as well. She KNEW it! Still, the doctors came, one was a man. Dr. Marcus Reilly. He ghostly pale skin, thick round glasses, and greasy brown hair that he combed over the bald spot on his head. He wore a lab coat like it meant something. He took advantage of her during their weekly visits.
She would have actually gone insane if it hadn’t been for her friend, Miley. Miley was a mutant, too. She was a mind-bender. The girl could persuade anyone to do whatever she wanted…that is, if she wasn’t under the influence. Once night, Miley and Fathom didn’t take their medications. She grabbed Fathom and they busted out of the asylum. Running as fast as they could into the woods, they neared freedom. Unfortunately, Miley was caught soon after. She urged Fathom to turn into her liquid form to escape.
Fathom listened and did as she was told, but it wasn’t without regret. Ever since, she’s been hitching rides and has finally entered Bayville, New York. She had heard of a mutant school…Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Well, she wasn’t a youngster, but she had hopes that this Xavier fellow could help her.
She still wants revenge against the asylum, and Dr. Reilly. She also would make her life’s mission to rescue Miley…even if she had to die for it.
