(From the old board)
“GO, KRYS, GOOOO!!!” The tall blond exclaimed as he stood back to watch his new student.
The young woman was fighting in the Excalibur Danger Room and had Oliver impressed. She was talented, but needed a little work controlling her powers. She was magnificent and he wanted to show her everything his team had to offer.
She, like her sister, had ice abilities and with enough practice, the woman would be up to par with The others. He would make sure of it, and maybe even make her an Omega before they knew it....
————————
Catelyn had just finished last of the mountain of paperwork that came with her job. She was the assistant to the Duchess, and everyone wanted the inside intel of the royal family. She’d spent the last 6 months learning about who she would be dealing with, and with what. She Was exceptional and would be brilliant at her job.
Looking up to the clock, she sighed heavily. Burying herself in her work had done its justice...until now. She missed him, but she had to move on. As the twisting began into her stomach, she pulled out her chair “No.” she whispered to herself as she stood, straightening her outfit. “Not now.” She demanded as she walked through her office.
Yeah, she had an office now, and it came with the territory. Looking up, she closed her eyes. She had never really been out in London. She’d been knee deep in Parliament, and hadn’t given a second thought of exploring her new surroundings. With a shrug, she grabbed her keys and headed for the town.
Driving in London was insane. No where near the US and it was certainly a learning process. Parking her car, she stepped out as one stilleto heel walked along the concrete. Looking up, she smirked “The Star Pub...interesting.” Grabbing the long wooden handle of the door, she walked inside feeling the warmth of the heater instantly. She felt herself become more comfortable as her inner self melted. Grabbing a stool, she set her bag on the bar and with a heavy sigh, she ordered a beer.
Pulling a blonde strand from her crisp blue eyes, she cracked a smile to the bartender who made a comment of her entrance “I work for some pretty powerful people, and I need a drink..what can I say?”
The weekend was always the worst part of his job. They always seemed to want to stab and maul each other and well he didn't mind them so much when they tried it. He did but he told himself a boring weekend would drag on. He worked the ER because he needed to skills sharp he told himself. It wasn't really the reason why he did it. It was because treating husbands, wives, and children was a great job and his employer paid him very well for the skill he had accumulated in such a short time. It was the reason why he was paid so handsomely as well. At least it wasn't a Hellfire weekend he told himself. Those weekends were kind of frightening because of the parties and how many people seemed to think that the human body or if they were lucky enough to be gifted, or as the term used was mutant, they could overindulged and try to kill themselves. He had stitched up knife wounds. The first pint, thankfully he had tomorrow off from everything, had just been sat in front of him and nodded to the bartender who knew him quite well.
"Thanks Cain...I'm heading to my spot to watch the room. You have my bag right?"
Cain nodded and let him go sit at the table so he could watch the room. Cain liked having him there because it really did not hurt to have a doctor at hand when people decided to give each other marks. He let his head fall back after taking his seat in the corner and just let the stress of the night pour out of him into the seat. He leaned forward and took a very tentative sip of his pint and let the dark stout seemed to banish some of the stress. He knew of course that was just his mind attaching a value to the pint but hey it worked. He happened to look up when the blonde walked in. She seemed out of place and Cain was quick to approach, like any good bartender, and when she spoke the face Cain made was funny. He didn't seemed impressed by her opening conversation. Well it took a lot to impress Cain. He didn't impress the man until he stopped his bleeding, from the knife wound he took, and then because Cain had just recently been released from prison stitched him up at his place. Sure the doorman gave him strange look but Cain couldn't help but be grateful. He told Cain to stay out of trouble and now he had a friend who helped him steer clear of trouble.
Leslie didn't know if that was just how life was supposed to be but he didn't mind having all sorts of friends. Cain happened to be one who knew things and how to get things one needed by means one didn't ask questions about. He never asked him for favors but reiterated every time he came in that Cain owed him nothing and that doctors helped people.

Her chest heaved as she looked around the room. Krys noticed that most of the bots were down whether it was from an icicle sticking out or a monster fighting. The last tiny bot was being torn apart as the sound of crackling reached her ears. She called over Snowball, the playful nickname she gave her main creature, to her side. She gave two thumbs up to Oliver as he looked down. If anything, all of this training would keep her in shape for when she hit the slops again.
"That a girl, Snowball." She took a few steps out from behind a stalagmite. She knew there would be more. She was thankful for all the training she had been getting. She knew her sister was going through a rough time which is most likely why they went over seas. For her, the change of pace was nice. She hated leaving her grams alone at her age. It was for the best right now as she dropped out of school to focus on her new life.
It felt nice to have a bit more control over what she wanted her powers to do. It was helpful for when she was allowed on the field. Each of the members had been really nice to her as they gave her tips. It seemed like Oliver had a vested interest in her. She felt as if she had friends who understood her. She reconciled with two of her besties as Mitch was really not in the picture for leaving her out in the middle of no where. He was huge prick anyways.
Movement from her right caught her attention. She ducked down as she had Snowball stay where it was. The ground began to shake as a huge bot emerged. Her eyes widen as she took in the scene. This might need Snowball and a whole group to try and take it down. For now, she could only control up to two successfully, though that was for a very brief time, usually at the beginning when when she was fresh.
She yelled up at Oliver, "Dude, seriously, the big guns? I would appreciate more of the small ones. I'm about pooped."
The large bot wasted little time in starting its attack. She barely dodged on of the legs as landed on the right side. She growled as Snowball got the attention by punching it in the eyes a few times. She got up as she jogged around to the back. She glanced up, trying to pinpoint the weakness. There was no obvious sign which meant it was on the top. She let the ice flow from her finger tips as stairs formed. She started to race up when the bot was pushed causing them to crack.
She threw her weight forward as it crashed down, allowing her to fall in that direction. She rolled herself into a bit of a ball as she landed on her side. She went straight into a slide as she screamed. She twisted her body around as she punctured the side of the bot with a tiny icicle. She took in a deep breath as she started to climb back up to the top. She gave Snowball a little more strength. She formed another icicle as she used her arms to get her on to the back.
She started to wheeze as she finally reached her destination. There was a little hatch on the back. She smiled as she could take it down with out too much damage. She strapped her legs on the bot as she ripped opened the hatch. She formed a hammer as she smashed what she hoped was the main panel. She felt it jerk back and forth as she gave a bit of a yip. She broke her legs free as she made a quick ice slide. She zoomed down it and across the floor, hitting one of the stalagmite. She heard crashes all around her as she curled up into a ball.
She lifted her arms up slightly, forming the time out symbol as she closed her eyes and Snowball melted once the noise faded. The last one pushed her over the edge a bit. She needed a gallon of water and to slow her heart rate down.

Oliver grabbed his kit and ran over to Krystal “Easy there, love.” He said quickly as he grabbed a water bottle from his bag. He put a hand onto her shoulder “Walk it off. Don’t stop moving, or your heart to feel like it’s beating out of your chest. Walk it off, mate.” He spoke softly as he began walking “Excellent job out there. One thing you need, is to pace yourself. Don’t go all at once, or you’ll sap your energy in the first round. Good stuff, though. Let someone pick up tomorrow, same time.” He grinned to his student “Now, how about some good ol’ fashioned Sheppard’s pie, a beverage and some chit chat?”
Oliver worried about the girl. Her sister was always working and had seemed to shut people out. Krystal was new here, and he wanted to ensure she was taken care of “Do you have any questions? I know Cate hasn’t been around, so I wondered about ya...”
———
Cate looked to the bartender and sighed “It’s been a long day. I’m sure you’ve had long days, yes?” She asked as she sipped her cocktail.
Next to her, a dark haired man kept giving her the eye. He body checked her as she spoke “Cain, get her another...”
Cate looked to the man and smiled “I’m fine, but thanks...”
He shook his head “Woman had a rough day. You need a drink. I’m Eric, what’s your name, gorgeous?”
Cate sighed “Look, I’m sure you’re a nice guy, but I’m not interested. I just came here to have a drink and relax before I go home..”
Eric shook his head “Going home? It’s early yet...”
Cate closed her eyes as she purses her lips. This happened all the time when she was alone. She had half the mind to freeze him into an ice cube, but with politics the way they we’re lately, she’d better not.

Leslie had seen this sad drama play out more times than he could count. Subject A, usually a male, attempts interface with Subject B. The interface being one of the true standbys of the bar dichotomy, small talk, buying someone a drink, or some other pointless yet frivolous gesture. This all in the hopes of attracting their attentions for a few fleeting moments. Usually the subjects were receptive and had at least a small modicum of pleasant interactions. This time though it looked like Subject B was not at all interested. Her body language and entrance had spoke about what she wished for interaction this evening. It was just to bad Subject A couldn’t take a hint. This usually ended when Subject A was showered in Subject Bs drink. That amused him. He could always do the pretend you look nothing like your profile. He would bail her out. It would be a gentlemanly thing to do. He texted Cain who looked down and chuckled. He found this amusing. Leslie rose from his seat and walked to the bar hoping she would go with it.
“Sarah? It is you! I didn’t think you would show up. I mean I’ve never done this online dating thing. Maybe I’m to traditional? You want to sit here at the bar and be entertained by this guy or cone sit and we can talk?”
He smiled charmingly at her and hoped she read into it that he was just trying to keep a douche bag from bothering her.

Cate had been about to deck this man when this tall brunette with chiseled features approached her. Turning her attention away from the seemingly creeper, she read into his approach. This man was saving her! It was kind and gentlemanly, which was a nice change to encounter since she'd arrived. With a laugh, she played along "Eric?! Oh, I'm so sorry I missed you. I was just starting off with some liquid courage... I don't usually do these things, either, so I totally get you!" she smiled sweetly as she hopped off her stool "Of course I'll join you." she giggled before turning back to the man hitting on her "Nice chatting with you." she then promptly turned her attention back to Leslie, following him to the table.
She sat, letting out a gentle sigh "Thank you. You didn't have to do that, but thank you." she spoke as she ran her hand through her hair "I'm Rose..." she smiled as her blue eyes twinkled under the dim bar lights.

Krys took the bottle of water out of the hand of the man. She quickly started to guzzle it all down. She was able to slowly make it to her feet as she followed him, even it if was a little slower. She smiled as he praised her for the work she did. Compared to when she first started, it was much better as she knew more about her abilities. Part of her wished that she could have Cate here to watch.
She swirled the remaining bit of water as she sighed. Cate had been fairly distant since they got here. She didn't push at all since she could only imagine what the poor girl was going through. She wanted to wrap her new sister up in a hug or distract her or something. She felt nearly useless since they had just meet.
Oliver's words stopped her train of thought. There was little she could do to worry about that. She had a feeling that Cate would open up to her hopefully soon. Maybe even go on a girl's weekend.
She gave Oliver a playful, friendly punch to the arm. "Thanks bud. Tomorrow sounds good for picking up. Honestly, you have been pretty patient and good with tips. I would never have gotten this far. Food and a drink sound amazing. After that last battle, I deserve it."
She smiled as she thought about questions as she had asked most of them with in her first few weeks. She cleared her throat, "So pacing? Honestly, I go headfirst into most things. That is how I live and won a few top skiing competitions in school and college. Doubt that they would allow me to race now." She paused with answering about Cate, "I know my sister has had a lot on her mind. Just wish we would actually get the chance to know each other. I guess she is dealing with the events in her own way. So are we staying in or going out for food and drinkage?"

She had read into his approach and he lead her to his table. Once they were seated and she gave her name. He decided to he would give his middle name and leave it there. It was a good way to be slightly truthful.
“Taylor and it’s a pleasure Rose.”
He didn’t have to do a lot of things. That right there would have been an abuse of the drink.
“We don’t have to do a lot of things. I just didn’t want to see you waste that drink which could have been out to better use helping you forget a long day.”
He smiled at his small joke and well he signaled Cain to bring two more drinks.

Cate smirked, laughing a bit at the joke. "No, thank you, really." she spoke softly as she closed her eyes, trying to relax after the long day. "Well, Taylor, the pleasure is all mine." she chuckled as she leaned in to play it off "So, you come here often?" she winked as Cain brought them their beverages "I've only been here a week, so I'm learning my way around the city. I'm surprised to find someone American." she remarked to his accent "It's kinda nice, actually."
Leslie smiled at her as Cain set the drinks down and nodded to them both. Cain was really a good man just had some bad luck in his opinion when it came to who he chose as friends. Leslie could sympathize with that and his attention was brought back to the gorgeous blonde sitting next to him as she leaned in to speak to him. He was mildly surprised she was still going with ruse after all the man at the bar had just now tossed his 10 quid down and left giving Leslie some dark looks. His loss was well his loss and being a creepy asshole wasn't something Leslie usually let slide. This night would have been no different even if it was the guys girlfriend. That would have made it worse in his opinion.
"Well Rose I suppose your fan club has left. Tragedy too...he could have been the one."
The come here often joke caused a small laugh and well he needed a few after the long day he had just experienced. It was funny he went with Doctors Without Borders to gain valuable experience and then decided after that experience that he didn't want to experience those things again. Yet there he was in another city administering aid for stab wounds but the volume of gunshot wounds being low was nice, they were extremely low.
"I actually do come here often. Usually every Thursday after work. It is a nice quiet spot with the occasional creeper at the bar. I have noticed not many women stay and the gentleman who just left usually ends up wearing their drinks."
A week well that was surprising and she worked here in London as well. Another surprise. He couldn't argue the fact of picking a place because you saw it from the road. That is how he ended up coming in here for the first time. American's surprised her as well. She must be either coming back from a long sabbatical from England or her job brought her here in the first place.
"Guilty as charged and you only a week. It must be a really good job."
She found it nice he was American and he usually tended to avoid the topic considering their current leadership of his country of origin. She knew the idiocy of that man so that was something that wouldn't spawn a million questions.
"There are days it is nice. Usually when a moron doesn't run his mouth on TV or Twitter making himself and his office look bad. I mean either way there is such a thing as being quiet at times. Anyways enough about him. What have you found you like about London so far? I can recommend a few places for you check out or you can ask you boss if you are nervous asking a strange guy you just met in a bar."
He smiled as he sipped his second pint.

Oliver smirked to Krys as they headed inside “Food and drinkage sounds perfect, love!” He exclaimed happily “You’ve won skiing competitions?! Bloody hell, woman, let’s get you a damn cocktail!” He roared in happy laughter.
Taking off his mask, he grinned from ear to ear “I’ve got the perfect pub. It’s right next to my shop and has the best burgers you’ve ever tasted. As we eat, you get to tell me more about ya.” He smiled sweetly. Putting a hand onto her shoulder, he directed them toward his car “And Cate will be all right, I think. We do indeed deal with death in our own ways; lord know I am. I’ve buried myself in my work and training you. It’s a welcome distraction, but I know that I have to come to terms with the fact. I’ve visiting his family next week for dinner. I want to try to get Cate to come with as well.” He then pondered a moment “Would you like to come? She would probably like a familiar face along. And his family, they...I want to know what family he would have been a part of...”

Krys smiled with a blush as she mentioned her wins. It was something that she usually didn't tell or even brag about to most people. She cleared her throat as she covered up the slight embarrassment. She dusted off some random piece of dust before looking over at him.
"You own a shop? Well damn, it looks like you could use a beer as well." She grinned at him as she bumped him with her hip.
She felt relaxed here. Everyone was rather open and friendly. She had fun hanging around Oliver. It was nice to know that he didn't mind teaching her about controlling her powers.
"I think it will be wonderful to get to know you as well. It feels like all we do is eat and train. There is sleeping at points as well." She followed him to his car, excited about seeing more of London.
She placed a hand on his shoulder as the conversation turned a little more grim. "I am happy to give you something to focus on. I am here if you ever need to talk. I may have known him a short while, I can tell that everyone really respected him and my sister loved him deeply." She smiled at the invitation, "If it makes things easier on both of you, I would love to come. I will be there for moral support. Maybe I can convince Cate to go skiing. It's strange I have not been on the slopes in ages."
She clapped her hands together, "Let's go get that grub. If I don't eat soon I might wither away." She bent over in a dramatic fashion, lighting the mood. "I don't have much cash but it's on me. Try not to break my wallet."
